    flaxseed oil actually comes from ground flaxseed. It can be purchased in oil form or seed form, but you need to grind seeds to get oil or crush seeds and sprinkle on foods. You dont get the beneficial oils if you eat the seeds like Oprah was doing until Dr Oz informed her the seeds needed to be crushed or ground.
