I do not favor kids participating in triathalons. Most kids benefit from games that are fun and involve a group. Distance running is a recipe for teaching kids how to be slow, injury, and boredom.

Chris,

For the sake of your readers, please read the Science-Based Medicine blog posts on vaccines before you post another article on a topic which you clearly don't have all the facts. Here is the link: http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/?cat=36.

Seriously, as PT's, we really need to stick to our own realm. I know you're trying to attract readers, but do you really want a body-count on your conscience, just as Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey now have?

By the way, Thimerasol has been conclusively shown to have no link whatsoever to autism, and to suggest it does is nothing short of irresponsible.

Chris,
I have a one year old daughter who just had the vaccination. I read this post just before taking here (talk about timing) and did some spelunking around the net. I asked the pediatrician if he uses single or multi-dose vials, and he said multi, but that the amount of mercury in what my daughter would be given is less than that in a fish stick. Kind of put it in perspective for me, so she got the injection. I don't know what to think about the autism link yet, but there doesn't seem to be enough evidence at this point to confirm a cause-effect-relationship. Thanks for your blogging!

Chris-

Great article. I think it is very important to say your second point in the sidebar that they may see a decline in their performance initially. I also like how you separated novice from skilled golfers. I see a lot of golfers as a physical therapist as well. Love your blog. Keep them rolling
